Church Ministries

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is a group of dedicated members who work diligently behind the scenes to assure that everything is in place for all Church services, including weddings and funerals. Their duties include, but are not limited to, caring for linens, polishing silver and brass, ordering supplies, setting out the wine and bread, preparing the candles, and taking care of vestments. Membership is open to all persons in the congregation with a love for keeping God’s house in good order.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Lectors

Lectors are scheduled regularly to read the lessons during the worship services.

The Order of the Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King is an international Order which began in the Episcopal Church in 1885. "The mission of this order is the extension of Christ's Kingdom through prayer, service and evangelism." Daughters have dedicated themselves to daily intercessory prayer for the parish and its clergy and maintain a prayer chain that provide(s) for immediate and particular prayer needs. Anyone may contact any Daughter or the church office to submit a prayer request.

The chapter meets monthly to share prayer concerns and thanksgivings, for Bible study or meditation and to discuss items of business.

For more information, visit The Daughters Of the King National Website.

Sarah's Circle

Sarah's Circle is a group of Holy Apostles women whose purposes are to joyfully commit to projects and programs for the good of the parish and to celebrate the joy and interdependence of discipleship. All women of the parish are invited to participate.

Holy Apostles Men’s Group (HAMen)

The HAMen is a friendly group that meets monthly to socialize and plan activities over a dinner. All male adult members of Holy Apostles are de facto members of HAMen. The group sponsors some of the most popular of our annual social events: an Easter breakfast held between services; a Fall barbeque picnic held at a county park; a Christmas party.

Foyer Group

The Foyer Group is an informal meeting of adult couples and single who get together once a month to socialize and to better know each other as members of the church family. The functions, which are open to anyone who wished to attend, are held in different homes each month during the year. Everyone brings their own liquid refreshments and an hors d’oeuvre plate to share. These parties are a lot of fun and a great way to get to know your fellow parishioners.

"C" Group

"C" Group stands for an open circle, Christ in the center, and functioning as a cell of the parish. This group meets weekly in homes for prayer, bible study, and mutual support.

Book Club

A relatively recent addition to the groups at Holy Apostles, our Book Club meets weekly on Thursdays at 1 PM. Participants read and discuss Christian-based books chosen by book club members.

Knit 3, Prayer too

Music Ministry

Holy Apostles has a small, but growing, dedicated choir of adult volunteers, led by Diane Spahr. The choir leads the responses during worship, and offers anthems several times a month. They also participate in multi-church services and celebrations. Practice is held weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7 PM.

Guest soloists, both vocal and instumental, are welcomed to participate in services or in Sunday School.

Youth Group

Christian Education

   Sunday School

Sunday School runs during the academic year in the time between our two Sunday services. The children organize and plan several Youth Services per year, where they take roles in leading the worship. We also plan and perform an annual Christmas pageant.

   Vacation Bible School

Our weeklong Vacation Bible School is open to the community (at no cost), and we have received rave reviews from participants. VBS is made possible by our members’ donations of time, talents, and treasure. In addition to sharing the Good News with our neighbors, our members have become closer to each other by working together in the classroom, snack center, and arts and crafts areas.

Hospitality

After Sunday services, members meet in the parish hall for Coffee Hour. This is hosted by a different person or family each week, often in recognition of a special event. This time of fellowship is when member truly get to know each other, and where much work of the parish is informally accomplished.

Card committee

Holy Apostles likes to recognize important milestones in its parishioners’ lives with mailed greetings as well as blessings in the church. Our Birthday Card Project honors each of our members birthdays, and our Sunshine Committee sends cards to those who are ill or bereaved.
